Some Prophesies From The Prophet, Isaiah, and Their Fulfillment

Here is some scriptural proof from the bible book of Isaiah
that Jesus Christ is the Jewish Messiah (God the anointed One)

Written by Kraig Josiah Rice

The Beginning of the Ministry of Jesus Christ, the Messiah

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the Lord has anointed Me to preach good tidings to the poor- He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound...
(Isaiah 61:1).

Behold, My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him- He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. A bruised reed He will not break, and smoking flax He will not quench- He will bring forth justice for truth. He will not fail nor be discouraged, till He has established justice in the earth- and the coastlands shall wait for His law
(Isaiah 42:1-4).

The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord. His delight is in the fear of the Lord, and He shall not judge by the sight of His eyes, nor decide by the hearing of His ears- but with righteousness He shall judge the poor, and decide with equity for the meek of the earth- He shall strike the earth with the rod of His mouth, and with the breath of His lips He shall slay the wicked. Righteousness shall be the belt of His loins, and faithfulness the belt of His waist
(Isaiah 11:2-5).

Arise, shine- for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people- but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising
(Isaiah 60:1-3).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Book of of Luke

So He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up. And as His custom was, He went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day, and stood up to read. And He was handed the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when He had opened the book, He found the place where it was written- the Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor- He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed- to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord. Then He closed the book, and gave it back to the attendant and sat down. And the eyes of all who were in the synagogue were fixed on Him. And He began to say to them- today this Scripture is fulfilled in your hearing
(Luke 4:16-21).

John the Baptist- A Type for the Prophet, Elijah

The public ministry of the first coming of Elijah must take place before the public ministry of the first coming of the Jewish Messiah, Jesus Christ. This scripture is found in Malachi-
Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful Day of the Lord. And he will turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers...
(Malachi 4:5-6).

As well, these scriptures are found in Isaiah-
I will bring the (spiritually) blind by a way they did not know- I will lead them in paths they have not known. I will make darkness light before them, and crooked places straight. These things I will do for them, and not forsake them
(Isaiah 42:16).

I will go before you and make the (spiritually) crooked places straight- I will break in pieces the gates of bronze and cut the bars of iron
(Isaiah 45:2).

The voice of one crying in the wilderness- prepare the (spiritual) way of the Lord- make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be exalted and every mountain and hill brought low- the (spiritually) crooked places shall be made straight and the rough places smooth...
(Isaiah 40:3-4).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew, Luke, and John

In those days John the Baptist came preaching in the wilderness of Judea, and saying- repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand! For this is He Who was spoken of by the prophet Isaiah, saying- the voice of one crying in the wilderness- prepare the way of the Lord- make His paths (spiritually) straight
(Matthew 3:1-3).

He (Jesus) said- I AM the (spiritual) voice of one crying in the wilderness- make (spiritually) straight the way of the Lord- as the prophet Isaiah said
(John 1:23).

Enter by the narrow gate- for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to (spiritual) destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way that leads to life, and there are few who find it
(Matthew 7:13-14).

John the Baptist Appears to Have Fulfilled His Destiny-

And he (John the Baptist) went into all the region around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the remission of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaiah the prophet, saying- the voice of one crying in the wilderness- prepare the way of the Lord- make His paths straight. Every valley shall be filled and every mountain and hill brought low- the crooked places shall be made straight and the rough ways smooth- and all flesh shall see the salvation of God
(Luke 3:3-6).

For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John (the Baptist). And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!
(Matthew 11:13-15).

Some of the Works and Miracles of Jesus Christ, the devine Messiah

The Messiah is Against Hypocracy

This scripture is from the bible book of Isaiah-
And so the Lord says- these people say they are Mine. They honor Me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. Their worship is a farce, for they merely teach human commands and teachings
(Isaiah 29:13).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Book of Matthew

Some Pharisees and teachers of religious law now arrived from Jerusalem to interview Jesus. Why do Your disciples disobey our age-old traditions? they demanded. They ignore our tradition of ceremonial hand washing before they eat. Jesus replied- and why do you, by your traditions, violate the direct commandments of God? For instance, God says- honor your father and mother, and anyone who speaks evil of father or mother must be put to death. But you say- you do not need to honor your parents by caring for their needs if you give the money to God instead. And so, by your own tradition, you nullify the direct commandment of God. You hypocrites! Isaiah was prophesying about you when he said-

These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far away. Their worship is a farce, for they replace God's commands with their own man-made teachings.
Then Jesus called to the crowds and said- listen to what I say and try to understand. You are not defiled by what you eat- you are defiled by what you say and do. Then the disciples came to Him and asked- do you realize you offended the Pharisees by what you just said? Jesus replied- every plant not planted by My heavenly Father will be rooted up, so ignore them. They are blind guides leading the blind, and if one blind person guides another, they will both fall into a ditch. Then Peter asked Jesus- explain what You meant when You said people are not defiled by what they eat. Do not you understand? Jesus asked him. Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes out of the body. But evil words come from an evil heart and defile the person who says them. For from the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, all other sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands could never defile you and make you unacceptable to God
(Matthew 15:1-20).

The miracles of Jesus Christ the Messiah

This scripture is found in Isaiah-
Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert
(Isaiah 35:5-6).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Book of Matthew

And when John had heard in prison about the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples and said to Him- are You the Coming One, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said to them- go and tell John the things that you hear and see- the blind see and the lame walk- the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear- the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them
(Matthew 11:2-5).

Jesus Christ- the Healing Messiah

Jesus heals physically, spiritually, emotionally, and so much more-

...but He was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed! All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on Him the guilt and sins of us all. Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows...
(Isaiah 53:4-5).

In all their affliction He was afflicted, and the Angel of His Presence saved them- in His love and in His pity He redeemed them- and He bore them and carried them all the days of old
(Isaiah 63:9).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew and James

Now when Jesus had come into Peter's house, He saw his wife's mother lying sick with a fever. So He touched her hand, and the fever left her. And she arose and served them. When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying- He Himself took our infirmities and bore our sicknesses
(Matthew 8:14-17).

Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven
(James 5:14-15).

Israel's Spiritual Blindness

And He said- Go, and tell this people (due to their unbelief)- who keep on hearing, but do not understand- who keep on seeing, but do not perceive. Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and shut their eyes- lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and return and be healed
(Isaiah 6:9-10).

Oh, how deaf and blind you are toward Me. Why will not you listen? Why do you refuse to see? Who in all the world is as blind as My own people, My servant? Who is as deaf as My messengers? Who is as blind as My chosen people, the servant of the Lord? You see and understand what is right but refuse to act on it. You hear, but you do not really listen
(Isaiah 42:18-20).

Note- besides Isaiah, there were other prophets who brought forth the same message

Son of Man, you dwell in the middle of a rebellious house, that has eyes to see but does not see, and ears to hear but does not hear- for they are a rebellious house
(Deuteronomy 29:4).

Yet the Lord has not given you a heart to perceive and eyes to see and ears to hear, to this very day
(Ezekiel 12:2).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew, John, Romans, Ephesians, Second Peter, and Revelation

But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, that he spoke- Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe- because Isaiah said again- He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them. These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him
(John 12:37-41).

Therefore I speak to them in parables, because seeing they do not (spiritually) see, and hearing they do not (spiritually) hear, nor do they understand. And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, that says- hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive- for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them. But blessed are your eyes for they see, and your ears for they hear
(Matthew 13:13-16).

Blessed is he who reads and those who hear the words of this prophecy, and observe those things that are written in it- for the time is near
(Revelation 1:3). If anyone has an ear, let him hear
(Revelation 13:9).

For I do not desire, brethren, that you should be ignorant of this mystery, lest you should be wise in your own opinion, that blindness in part has happened to Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles has come in
(Romans 11:25).

...having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the (spiritual) ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart
(Ephesians 4:18).

For he who lacks these things is shortsighted, even to blindness, and has forgotten that he was cleansed from his old sins
(2 Peter 1:9).

Salvation

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts- let him return to the Lord, and He will have mercy on him- and to our God, for He will abundantly pardon
(Isaiah 55:7).

How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, Who brings glad tidings of good things, Who proclaims salvation, Who says to Zion- your God reigns
(Isaiah 52:7).

Who among you fears the Lord? Who obeys the voice of His Servant? Who walks in darkness and has no light? Let him trust in the name of the Lord and rely upon his God
(Isaiah 50:10).

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light- those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death- upon them a light has shined
(Isaiah 9:2).

Who has believed our message? To whom will the Lord reveal His saving power?
(Isaiah 53:1).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Books of Romans, John, and Luke.

Jesus said to him- I AM the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me
(John 14:6).

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life
(John 3:16).

...I tell you, no- but unless you repent you will all likewise perish
(Luke 13:3).

My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me. And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish- neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all- and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father's hand. I and My Father are one
(John 10:27-30)

...for all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23).

But we are all like an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are like filthy rags- we all fade as a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away
(Isaiah 64:6).

...that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation
(Romans 10:9-10).

The Armor and Helmet of Salvation

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
I am overwhelmed with joy in the Lord my God! For He has dressed me with the clothing of salvation and draped me in a robe of righteousness. I am like a bridegroom in his wedding suit or a bride with her jewels. The Sovereign Lord will show His justice to the nations of the world. Everyone will praise Him. His righteousness will be like a garden in early spring, filled with young plants springing up everywhere
(Isaiah 61:10-11).

He put on righteousness as His body armor and placed the helmet of salvation on His head. He clothed himself with the robes of vengeance and godly fury. He will repay His enemies for their evil deeds. His fury will fall on His foes in distant lands. Then at last they will respect and glorify the name of the Lord throughout the world. For He will come like a flood tide driven by the breath of the Lord.
The Redeemer will come to Jerusalem, says the Lord, to buy back those in Israel who have turned from their sins. And this is My covenant with them says the Lord- My Spirit will not leave them, and neither will these words I have given you. They will be on your lips and on the lips of your children and your children's children forever. I, the Lord, have spoken
(Isaiah 59:17-21).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Books of Ephesians and First Thessalonians

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual armies of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace- above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, that is the word of God
(Ephesians 6:12-17).

But let us who live in the light think clearly, protected by the body armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the confidence of our salvation. For God decided to save us through our Lord Jesus Christ, not to pour out his anger on us. He died for us so that we can live with him forever, whether we are dead or alive at the time of his return. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing
(1 Thessalonians 5:8-11).

God's Blessings on the Saved Gentiles
Gentiles Can Be Converted to Christ

And My blessings are for Gentiles, too, when they commit themselves to the Lord. Do not let them think that I consider them second-class citizens...I will also bless the Gentiles who commit themselves to the Lord and serve Him and love His name, who worship Him and do not desecrate the Sabbath day of rest, and who have accepted His covenant. I will bring them also to My holy mountain of Jerusalem and will fill them with joy in My house of prayer. I will accept their burnt offerings and sacrifices, because My temple will be called a house of prayer for all nations. For the sovereign Lord, Who brings back the outcasts of Israel, says- I will bring others, too, besides my people Israel
(Isaiah 56:3, 6-8).

Indeed He says- it is too small a thing that You should be My Servant to raise up the tribes of Jacob, and to restore the preserved ones of Israel- I will also give You as a light to the gentiles, that You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth
(Isaiah 49:6).

...the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali...by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, in Galilee of the Gentiles
(Isaiah 9:1).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesies can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew, Acts, and romans

And with this the words of the prophets agree, just as it is written- after this I will return and will rebuild the tabernacle of David, that has fallen down- I will rebuild its ruins, and I will set it up- so that the rest of mankind may seek the Lord, even all the gentiles who are called by My name, says the Lord who does all these things. Known to God from eternity are all His works. Therefore I judge that we should not trouble those from among the gentiles who are turning to God, but that we write to them to abstain from things polluted by idols, from sexual immorality, from things strangled, and from blood
(Acts 15:15-20).

And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, that is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying- the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles- the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned. From that time Jesus began to preach and to say- repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
(Matthew 4:13-17).

Remember that Christ came as a servant to the Jews to show that God is true to the promises He made to their ancestors. And He came so the gentiles might also give glory to God for His mercies to them. That is what the psalmist meant when he wrote- I will praise You among the Gentiles- I will sing praises to Your name. And in another place it is written- rejoice, O you gentiles, along with His people, the Jews. And yet again- praise the Lord, all you gentiles- praise Him, all you people of the earth. And the prophet Isaiah said- the heir to David's throne will come, and He will rule over the gentiles. They will place their hopes on Him. So I pray that God, Who gives you hope, will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in Him. May you overflow with hope through the power of the Holy Spirit
(Romans 15:8-13).
