Some Prophesies From The Prophet, Isaiah, and Their Fulfillment

Here is some scriptural proof from the bible book of Isaiah
that Jesus Christ is the Jewish Messiah (God the anointed One)

Written by Kraig Josiah Rice

Israel's rejection of its Messiah, Jesus Christ

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
Who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? For He shall grow up before Him as a tender plant, and as a root out of dry ground. He has no form or comeliness- and when we see Him, there is no beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and rejected by men, a Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. and we hid, as it were, our faces from Him- He was despised, and we did not esteem Him
(Isaiah 53:1-3).

It appears that the Jews had a faulty view of their Messiah. For example, one fault was the fact that their Messiah, Jesus Christ, was not as they imagined Him to be so they rejected Him.

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Luke and John

But although He had done so many signs before them, they did not believe in Him, that the word of Isaiah the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spoke- Lord, who has believed our report? And to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed? Therefore they could not believe, because Isaiah said again- He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, so that I should heal them. These things Isaiah said when he saw His glory and spoke of Him. Nevertheless even among the rulers many believed in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, lest they should be put out of the synagogue- for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God
(John 12:37-43).

And they all cried out at once, saying- away with this Man, and release to us Barabbas
(Luke 23:18).

He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him. But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name
(John 1:10-12). For even His (sibling) brothers did not believe in Him (John 7:5).

The Beating, Whipping and Mocking That Christ Would Suffer

This scripture is found in Isaiah-
I gave My back to those who struck Me, and My cheeks to those who plucked out the beard- I did not hide My face from shame and spitting
(Isaiah 50:6).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew and Philippians

Then they spat in His face and beat Him- and others struck Him with the palms of their hands
(Matthew 26:67)...then he (Pilate) released Barabbas to them- and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified. Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole garrison around Him. And they stripped Him and put a scarlet robe on Him. When they had twisted a crown of thorns, they put it on His head, and a reed in His right hand. And they bowed the knee before Him and mocked Him, saying- hail, King of the Jews! Then they spat on Him, and took the reed and struck Him on the head
(Matthew 27:26-30).

So the Scripture was fulfilled that says- and He was numbered with the transgressors (Mark 15:28). Then he (Pilate) released Barabbas to them- and when he had whipped Jesus, he delivered Him to be crucified (Matthew 27:26). He humbled Himself and became obedient to death- even death on a cross
(Philippians 2:8).

There are some other scriptures in God's holy word in regards to this subject. I want to share a few with you. I now quote from the John Gill Exposition of the Entire Bible-

(of Christ) "...that He should be reproached and despised of men (Psalms 22:6-8) (Isaiah 53:3);
be spit upon, smote, and buffeted (Isaiah 1:5,6) (Micah 5:1);
be put to death, (Psalms 22:15) (Isaiah 53:12);
and the death of the cross (Psalms 22:15,16) (Zechariah 12:10) and be buried (Isaiah 53:9),
and also the several circumstances of His sufferings, that led on to them, or attended them;
as the selling Him for thirty pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12-13);
the betraying him by one of His familiar friends (Psalms 41:9);
the seizing and apprehending Him, and which is particularly referred to here (Isaiah 53:7-8);
His disciples forsaking Him (Zechariah 13:7), and even His God and Father (Psalms 22:1);
His suffering between two thieves (Isaiah 53:12)".

The Body of Christ Would Be Mutilated

This scripture is found in Isaiah-
Many were amazed when they saw him...beaten and bloodied, so disfigured one would scarcely know He was a person
(Isaiah 52:14).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew and John
So then Pilate took Jesus and whipped Him
(John 19:1).

...after whipping Jesus, he delivered Him up to be crucified
(Matthew 27:26).

Christ Was Numbered Among Lawbreakers

This scripture is found in Isaiah-
...He was numbered with the transgressors...
(Isaiah 53:12).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Book of luke
There were also two others, criminals, led with Him to be put to death. And when they had come to the place called Calvary, there they crucified Him, and the criminals, one on the right hand and the other on the left
(Luke 23:32-33).

Lucifer (Satan, the devil, adversary, evil prince of darkness, tempter, and more)
How you are fallen from Heaven, O shining star, son of the morning! You have been thrown down to the earth, you who destroyed the nations of the world. For you said to yourself, I will ascend to Heaven and set my throne above God's stars. I will preside on the mountain of the gods far away in the north. I will climb to the highest heavens and be like the Most High. But instead, you will be brought down to the place of the dead, down to its lowest depths. Everyone there will stare at you and ask- can this be the one who shook the earth and the kingdoms of the world? Is this the one who destroyed the world and made it into a wilderness? Is this the king who demolished the world's greatest cities and had no mercy on his prisoners?
(Isaiah 14:12-17).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Luke, Acts, Second Corinthians, Second Thessalonians, and Revelation

And He (Jesus) said to them- I saw Satan fall like lightning from Heaven (Luke 10:18).

So the great dragon was cast out, that serpent of old, called the Devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world- he was cast to the earth, and his (fallen) angels were cast out with him
(Revelation 12:9).

Then Satan entered Judas, surnamed Iscariot, who was numbered among the twelve
(Luke 22:3).

And when we all had fallen to the ground, I heard a voice speaking to me and saying in the Hebrew language- Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me? It is hard for you to kick against the goads. So I said- Who are You, Lord? And He said-
I AM Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet- for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things that you have seen and of the things that I will yet reveal to you. I will deliver you from the Jewish people, as well as from the Gentiles, to whom I now send you, to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me
(Acts 26:14-18).

...lest Satan should take advantage of us- for we are not ignorant of his devices
(2 Corinthians 2:11).

...and no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light
(2 Corinthians 11:14).

The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved
(2 Thessalonians 2:9-10).

The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever
(Revelation 20:10).

The Problem of Sin, Rebellion, Unbelief, and Disobedience to God

These scriptures are from the bible book of Isaiah-
For since the world began, no ear has heard, and no eye has seen a God like you, Who works for those who wait for Him! You welcome those who cheerfully do good, who follow godly ways. But we are not godly. We are constant sinners, so Your anger is heavy on us. How can people like us be saved? We are all infected and impure with sin. When we proudly display our righteous deeds, we find they are but filthy rags. Like autumn leaves, we wither and fall. And our sins, like the wind, sweep us away. Yet no one calls on your name or pleads with you for mercy. Therefore, you have turned away from us and turned us over to our sins
(Isaiah 64:4-7)

Listen! The Lord is not too weak to save you, and He is not becoming deaf. He can hear you when you call. But there is a problem- your sins have cut you off from God. Because of your sin, He has turned away and will not listen anymore
(Isaiah 59:1-2).

For our sins are piled up before God and testify against us. Yes, we know what sinners we are. We know that we have rebelled against the Lord. We have turned our backs on God. We know how unfair and oppressive we have been, carefully planning our deceitful lies. Our courts oppose people who are righteous, and justice is nowhere to be found. Truth falls dead in the streets, and fairness has been outlawed. Yes, truth is gone, and anyone who tries to live a godly life is soon attacked
(Isaiah 59:12-15).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Romans, Titus, and Hebrews

...but they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says- Lord, who has believed our report?
(Romans 10:16).

For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse, because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man- and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things. Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error that was due. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a debased mind, to do those things that are not fitting- being filled with all unrighteousness, sexual immorality, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness- full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, evil-mindedness- they are whisperers, backbiters, haters of God, violent, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, undiscerning, untrustworthy, unloving, unforgiving, unmerciful- who, knowing the righteous judgment of God, that those who practice such things are deserving of death, not only do the same but also approve of those who practice them
(Romans 1:18-32).

To the pure all things are pure, but to those who are defiled and unbelieving nothing is pure- but even their mind and conscience are defiled
(Titus 1:15).

But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him
(Hebrews 11:6).

Spiritual Darkness as black as night will cover all the nations of the earth in the Last Days

Arise, Jerusalem! Let your light shine for all the nations to see! For the glory of the Lord is shining upon you. (Spiritual) Darkness as black as night will cover all the nations of the earth, but the glory of the Lord will shine over you. All nations will come to your light
(Isaiah 60:1-3). The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light- those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death- upon them a light has shined (Isaiah 9:2).

Also God through Moses had this to say-
And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them- and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them. So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night
(Exodus 14:19-20).

It appears a further explanation of these scriptures can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew and Revelation

And leaving Nazareth, He (Jesus) came and dwelt in Capernaum, that is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying- the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, by the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles- the people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, and upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned. From that time Jesus began to preach and to say- repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand
(Matthew 4:13-17).

Then the fourth angel sounded- and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them were darkened. A third of the day did not shine, and likewise the night
(Revelation 8:12).

And he opened the bottomless pit, and smoke arose out of the pit like the smoke of a great furnace. So the sun and the air were darkened because of the smoke of the pit
(Revelation 9:2).

Then the fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast, and his kingdom became full of darkness- and they gnawed their tongues because of the pain
(Revelation 16:10).

Note: we have just seen the problem, now let us look at the solution to the problem-

Christ Would be Sacrificed as the Passover Lamb of God

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
Yet it was our weaknesses He carried- it was our sorrows that weighed Him down. And we thought His troubles were a punishment from God for His own sins. But He was wounded and crushed for our sins. He was beaten that we might have peace. He was whipped, and we were healed. All of us have strayed away like sheep. We have left God's paths to follow our own. Yet the Lord laid on Him the guilt and sins of us all. He was oppressed and treated harshly, yet He never said a word. He was led as a lamb to the slaughter. And as a sheep is silent before the shearers, He did not open His mouth. From prison and trial they led Him away to His death. But who among the people realized that He was dying for their sins- that He was suffering their punishment? He had done no wrong, and He never deceived anyone. But He was buried like a criminal- He was put in a rich man's grave. But it was the Lords good plan to crush Him and fill Him with grief. Yet when His life is made an offering for sin, He will have a multitude of children, many heirs. He will enjoy a long life, and the Lords plan will prosper in His hands. When He sees all that is accomplished by His anguish, He will be satisfied. And because of what He has experienced, My righteous servant will make it possible for many to be counted righteous, for He will bear all their sins. I will give Him the honors of one who is mighty and great, because He exposed Himself to death. He was counted among those who were sinners. He bore the sins of many and interceded for sinners
(Isaiah 53:4-12).

It appears a fulfillment of these prophecies can be found in the Bible Books of First Peter, First Corinthians, Romans, and Galatians

...knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things...but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot- Who truly was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you
(1 Peter 1:18-20).

Therefore purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new lump, since you truly are unleavened. For indeed Christ our Passover (Lamb) was sacrificed for us
(1 Corinthians 5:7).

When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners
(Romans 5:6).

But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out- Abba, Father. Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ
(Galatians 4:4-7).

Christ's Crucifixion Was a Sin Offering for the World

These scriptures are found in Isaiah-
Surely He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows- yet we esteemed Him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities- the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray- we have turned, every one, to his own way- and the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all (Isaiah 53:4-6)...yet it pleased the Lord to bruise Him- He has put Him to grief. When You make His soul an offering for sin, He shall see His seed, He shall prolong His days, and the pleasure of the Lord shall prosper in His hand. He shall see the labor of His soul, and be satisfied. By His knowledge My righteous Servant shall justify many, for He shall bear their iniquities
(Isaiah 53:10-11).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Book of John

Then he delivered Him to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus and led Him away. And He, bearing His cross, went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, that is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, where they crucified Him, and two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was- JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS
(John 19:16-19).

The Resurrection of the Jewish Messiah, Jesus Christ

This scripture is found in Isaiah-
Your dead men shall live, together like My dead body, shall they arise. Awake and sing, you that dwell in dust- for your dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead
(Isaiah 26:19).

It appears a fulfillment of this prophesy can be found in the Bible Books of Matthew and John

And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit. Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom- and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened- and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised- and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many
(Matthew 27:50-53).

Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jesus loved, and said to them- they have taken away the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him. Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb. So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first. And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there- yet he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb- and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also- and he saw and believed. For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead. Then the disciples went away again to their own homes. But Mary stood outside by the tomb weeping, and as she wept she stooped down and looked into the tomb. And she saw two angels in white sitting, one at the head and the other at the feet, where the body of Jesus had lain. Then they said to her- woman, why are you weeping? She said to them- because they have taken away my Lord, and I do not know where they have laid Him. Now when she had said this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, and did not know that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her- woman, why are you weeping? Whom are you seeking? She, supposing Him to be the gardener, said to Him- Sir, if You have carried Him away, tell me where You have laid Him, and I will take Him away. Jesus said to her- Mary! She turned and said to Him- Rabboni! (that is to say, Teacher). Jesus said to her- do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father- but go to My brethren and say to them- I AM ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God
(John 20:1-17).

There are some other scriptures in God's holy word in regards to this subject. I want to share a few with you. I now quote from the John Gill Exposition of the Entire Bible-

"For as yet they knew not the Scripture that he must rise again from the dead...
Meaning not some particular passage of Scripture, but the writings of the Old Testament in general, and the various places in it, that spoke of the resurrection of Christ, either in a way of type, or prophecy- such as (Genesis 22:3,4) (10:13); (Jonah 2:1-7); (Psalms 16:10); (Hosea 6:2); (Isaiah 26:19); and though our Lord had often referred to some of them, at least as in
(Matthew 12:40), (16:21), (20:18-19), yet such was the dulness of the disciples, or such their prejudices in favour of the Messiah being to continue, and set up a temporal kingdom, that even John, who leaned on his breast, and Peter, who was so inquisitive and desirous of knowing our Lord's meaning in everything, did not understand the sense of his words, nor of those places of Scripture he had reference to"...
